Developmental Therapy is
a service provided for children who are
delayed or at risk for a delay in their
overall development, including cognitive/learning,
social, adaptive, and motor skills. This
service is provided through developmentally
appropriate play while addressing the child’s
area(s) of need.
Developmental Therapy is provided by a Child Development
Specialist or someone who has been certified
as an Infant-Toddler Specialist.
Most Developmental Therapy sessions
last up to an hour in which the therapist
and child will work towards goals provided
on the child’s Individualized Family
Service Plan (IFSP). The goals of the IFSP
are written by the family with the child’s
Early Intervention coordinator in order
to address concerns and areas of need. Developmental Therapy
can be provided in a one-on-one or play
group setting. Play strategies are then
provided to the family and addressed through
play during the Developmental Therapy session.
The Early Intervention
Program provides up to 5 sessions of Developmental Therapy
a month per family free of charge!
To refer a child for
Developmental Therapy , a parent should contact their early
intervention coordinator for the request.
Coordinators may call Dynamic Therapy directly
to complete the referral or fax in appropriate
referral request form.
